Revision Guide

A Guide to Re  Vision

Response groups are heavily dependent upon your opinion.  The writer needs you to be as honest as possible about how their paper sounded to you.  They are not expecting you to be an expert, but sometimes it’s hard to trust yourself when you are reviewing another student’s paper for revision.  You may worry that you are not reading thoroughly enough to give good feedback.

This is a guide to use when you need some reminders about what you should be looking for in a good paper.  Please do not see this guide as a substitute for your opinion–it is meant only to assist you!

 

Overall Organization (This is the most important aspect of a paper.)

______ The paper is a story or creative endeavor, and . . .

______ it flows naturally and easily from its introduction to its conclusion.

______ it contains some unnecessary, confusing, or overly descriptive sections. Where? .

______ the first or  o last paragraph can be eliminated.

Paragraphs (Don’t forget, there is no rule for how long or short a paragraph is!)
